The Domaine des Iles is a massive (54 hectares of land) recreational area just on the outskirts of Sion. It’s a great place to go to relax with friends or family, and with its lake and lovely old trees providing shade it’s also a place to cool off in the summer.
The park has plenty of picnic areas with fixed barbecues for the public’s use. There is plenty to do for all ages and interests, with a mini golf, a little train, a climbing wall, and a rollerblading route. A sports centre has 4 indoor and 4 outdoor tennis courts, 3 squash and 4 badminton courts, and there is also a beach volley area, and places to hang a slack line in between the trees.
The restaurant is open 365 days of the year, and its terrace overlooks the lake and the Alps.
There’s also a big TCS camp site (including “glamping” possibilities) at Les Iles and an Adventure Park, open May – October with many different courses to choose from. More info here.
