The railway station in Sion is the main hub of public transport. There is a well-connected system between the trains and the Post Buses (Carpostal) which are parked just a few metres away at the station. The PostBuses carry passengers to outlying villages and are driven by skilled drivers who are very adept at negotiating the mountain bends. Check out this video of Antoine Dessimoz who drives one of the most vertiginous bus routes from Sion up to Derborence in the Valais (during the summer season).
This transport interconnectivity in Sion makes it easy if you are planning a hike or a day out in the Valais. If however, you need to drive or cycle on to your next destination, Mobility cars (the car-sharing service) have a selection of cars parked at Sion station for customers’ use. There is also a Publibike (bike-sharing service) stand near the station entrance.
There is a pharmacy, small Co-op pronto, kiosk, post office and a selection of cafés also near the station
